Big Buck Contest Rules & Information
Please read and familiarize yourself with the rules and information for the Big Buck Contest.

Contest Divisions, Hunting Areas and Places/Prizes Awarded
The Big Buck Contest has numerous categories, divisions, and hunting areas for hunters. Your entry will be recorded in the contest by your division/area when you bring your entry to be scored. You can enter multiple divisions and areas, with only one kill per entry. Just make sure you have enough entries paid for at the time of registration and before any deadline
All entries must be post marked hand delivered or entered on line Brenham FFA web site according to the following deadlines. All TP&W Game Laws must be followed by all participants.

Contest Areas

Area 2 - Hill Country
Bell, Bexar, Blanco, Burnett, Bandera, Coryell, Comal, Edwards, Gillespie, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Llano, Mason, McCullough, Menard, Mills, Real, Travis, Williamson, Medina, Lampasas, Gonzales, San Saba, Guadalupe

Area 3 - South Texas
Maverick, Zavala, Atascosa, Frio, Dimmit, La Salle, McMullen, Live Oak, Bee, San Patricio, Jim Wells, Duval, Webb, Zapata, Brooks, Kleberg, Starr, Hidalgo, Willacy, Nueces, Cameron, Kennedy, Jim Hogg

Area 4 - All Other Counties
All other Texas Counties.

Area 5 - High Fence
All Texas Counties Rifle Only

17 Years or Older at the Time of License Purchase.
General Season Only.

Women's Division
Archery & General Season Dates Allowed.

Youth Rifle Division
16 Years Old or Younger at the Time of License Purchase.

Can I Sign Up for More Than One Division or Area?
Yes!
Here is an Example:
I am and adult and will be rifle hunting. I will be hunting in Washington Co. and Gillespie Co. and I may enter 2 Spikes (One from Each County) and 2 Nice Bucks (One From Each County) - This will require 4 Entries.
Entry 1 = $30.00 (Men's Rifle Area 1 SPIKE)
Entry 2 = $30.00 (Men's Rifle Area 2 Hill Country SPIKE)
Entry 3 = $30.00 (Men's Rifle Area 1 Buck)
Entry 4 = $30.00 (Men's Rifle Area 2 Hill Country Buck)
If you hunt in Washington County, you are automatically included in the "Best Big Buck Wash. Co." with (1) $30 Entry.
All Bucks entered are also included in the "Best Freak Deer Overall" with (1) $30 Entry.
All entries must be post marked hand delivered or entered on line Brenham FFA web site according to the following deadlines. All TP&W Game Laws must be followed by all participants.
General Rules :

All entries must be tagged with Texas Parks & Wildlife tags. Tags not filled out correctly will be disqualified. No out of state deer allowed. All Texas laws and ethics must be followed by hunters.

All entries to be brought in by rightful owner the head and cape or only needed for scoring , any attempt to alter the horns will be grounds for disqualification without refund

In a event of a tie the winner will be determine by a random drawing

There is a limit one kill per entry No second bucks taken from 2 or 3 buck counties will be permitted to replace a buck that has been entered

Only general season kills are permitted. MLD Ranches will go by general season dates.

Deer that have an ear tag or have been ear tagged or tattooed are not eligible for low fence divisions.

Only spikes taken during general season are permitted. A buck is considered a spike if there are no points one inch or greater on one antler. A buck does not have to be a true spike to be entered. A buck will not be scored for a spike if it has a broken point on the antler to be scored. Score is based only on the length of the longest unbranched antler.

All contestants are subject to a poly graph test at the sole discretion of contest officials

No Stag deer or deer in velvet will be permitted

Archery entries will be permitted during rifle season

Deer harvested in a totally enclosed high fence area are only eligible for the high fence division.

Surrounding counties have specific buck regulations

The Brenham FFA Parent & Alumni Association committee reserves the right to accept or refuse anyentry.

By entering the contest you have agreed to comply with all the rules of the contest and all the decisions of the Brenham FFA Parent &Alumni Association.

Any hunter caught cheating will be banned from the contest. Duration of the disbandment will be at the discretion of the contest officials.

High fence division any deer taken in a high fence in any part of the state is eligible .

Deer will be scored by Total Gross Score
Hogs: Hogs are entered during general deer season by bringing in the tail for total count .
Coyotes: Bring in the pair of ears for total count. Ears attached to each other
Largest Bobcat scoring: Must be defrosted and dry to the touch. Measurements to be taken: length of body from nose to tail and girth around body behind shoulders.
